“Behind all of the hours of practice, and all the coaches that pushed you, there’s a little girl who shot the ball, fell in love with the game, and never looked back.” (Anon). Twenty-two little girls to be exact. The 2015-2016 soccer season has been off to a great start! The Lady Bulldogs have conformed into a solid team and were dominating the field with a consecutive six game winning streak. The ladies were victorious until the seventh game against Maplewood Richmond-Heights in which several senior players were absence due to the senior day field trip to Six Flags. The team was unable to hold their ground and lost to the MRH Blue Devils. They also fumbled across the University City Lions and had a downfall, but the ladies are ready to take back their superiority against the Hazelwood East Spartans, Friday, April 29, 2016. Although the ladies failed to succed against the two teams mentioned above, they still maintain a winning record of 6-2. After speaking with one of the varsity captains, JaLynn Walker, I was able to get her perspective on the team’s development. Walker stated, “The team is a lot more advanced than I expected before the season. It was to my belief that we would be the underdogs this year from the poor conditioning and skills displayed during the first couple of weeks of the season. To my surprise, we are actually a stronger bonded team than I thought and we’re capable of far more skill than expected. This will probably be one of our greatest seasons if we continue to improve at practice.” Varsity coach, Matt Clermont, also shared similar opinions as Walker. The team definitely probably shocked many this year. They intend to keep the crowd on their toes and expect a lot more victorious outcomes from the upcoming games. Good job ladies! Keep up the hard work!
